Performing a Spyware Scan

Performing a spyware scan using Spyware Clear is very simple. There are three different types of scans Spyware Clear can perform:

Fast Scan (A) - Spyware Clear “Fast Scan” scans only the most critical areas of your computer for threats. This includes the system registry, system INI files, processes running in memory, browser cookies (Internet Explorer and Firefox only), browser add-ons (Internet Explorer only), Windows Startup and critical system folders.

Full Scan (B) - Spyware Clear “Full Scan” scans all areas of your computer for threats. This includes all areas covered by the "Fast Scan”, as well as scanning each individual file and folder on your hard drive for threats.

Custom Scan (C) – A “Custom Scan” allows you to custom select which part of your system you want to scan in detail. If you select this type of scan, Spyware Clear will ask you which files and folders you’d like to scan. You can custom select those files and folders using checkboxes and click the “OK” button to confirm.

To start Spyware Clear scan, click the type of scan (A, B or C) you want to perform and the scan will begin immediately.

Upon scan completion, the Spyware Clear Scan Results tab will display a scan summary, a list of all threats detected, and the ability for you to remove, ignore or view a detailed report about the threats.

The Removing Threats section informs you of all infections found on your computer.

Remove button (A) - Upon completion of the scan, all infections default to “checked”, allowing you to remove all infections by simply clicking the “Remove” button.

Add to Ignore List (B) - If the threat is an item you know and trust and are aware of its risks (e.g., adware-supported software), you can move it to the Ignore List, telling Spyware Clear to ignore it in future spyware scans. To move selected items to the Ignore List, click on the “Add to Ignore List” link.

View Detailed Report (C) - If you would like to see a detailed scan report, click on the “View Detailed Report” link.
